THREADLIFT SURGERY:
One of women’s aspirations is to look for ever young. Celebrities such as Nicole Kidman and Madonna have done it using botox and some others, going through expensive plastic surgeries. Now there is a new surgery that does not need incisions, has longer effects than botox injections and does not cost as much. Threadlift has, like every other surgery, it pros and cons.
Even though thread usage is not new. Threadlift has innovated materials using ones that are safer. A polyamide thread is being used now; this material is also used in cardiovascular and ophthalmologic surgeries. The thread is introduced with a special guide needle and the body will dissolve it after some time. Nylon is also used as a thread material. But the body can not dissolve it.
Known also as “lunch surgery”, this surgery is perfect for those patents that are afraid of undergoing a surgical operation. Instead, they choose an un-invasive procedure with which they can gain results in an hour, results that, using creams will take months to obtain.
How is it performed?
The procedure starts when the sutures are placed through minimal incisions to work the critical areas of the face, stretching the flaccid areas.
After applying local anaesthesia, the surgeon begins to pull the fallen areas and after an hour, sometimes even less, the intervention is finished.
Recovery is quick, between 1 to 7 days and the marks and bruises reduce considerably comparing to a plastic surgery procedure.
Mostly, this technique is used to lift cheek, frown, forehead and neck skin, because the threads are not strong enough to hold heavy tissues. And even though some techniques promise wonders with the thread lift usage for fallen buttocks, doctors do not recommend them much.
Some disadvantages:
Like in every other aesthetic procedure, there are risks and contraindications. One of them is that this surgery has a limit in the amount of skin that can be successfully lifted, as well as the time the results will last.
If you compare the plastic surgery results to thread lift surgery, you will see that even though the first one is much more expensive, its results last 10 years, while thread lift results last between an year and a half or two.
All medical centres in which this surgery is performed advise that this is not the technique for those people seeking an extreme make over or that need to have all their face skin lifted, because it would be unreal to expect the same results that a plastic surgery has to offer.
In my opinion, the most important disadvantages of this technique are that it does not last much, and may cause a “stretch” look, like a puppet. Threads my brake and all of a sudden skin will go back to its original place”, says Brent Moelleken, a well known Beverly Hills surgeon.
It is true that one of the possible complications is that the threads become visible or can be felt through the ski, but this only happen under exceptional circumstances such as when the body rejects the material. Fortunately this procedure, unlike botox and plastic, is reversible.
As you can see, this “lunch surgery” is a new option if what you need is just a refresh. Just remember to talk to your personal surgeon and discuss your expectations before undergoing the surgery. |
