FACELIFT
Facelift (Rhytidectomy) is a common plastic surgery procedure that is used to correct both facial flaccidity and facial wrinkles.
This procedure is usually combined with an eyelid surgery (Blepharoplasty). The combination of both, gives the patients a fresh new aspect to their face and neck. The main objective of this procedure is for the patients to gain a better image according to their age, instead of taking away 10 or 15 years as many people like to believe. It’s very important for the patients to be emotionally balanced, because a new face does not guarantee a new life, but a new image does improve self-esteem.
This procedure can be an ambulatory procedure or may need hospitalization, either way it can be performed with local or general anesthesia; both situations depend strictly on the patients. It is our policy, to keep patients hospitalized for a day for a closer follow up, and since Facelift is usually done with some other procedures, such as Laser, Blepharoplasty, Forehead Surgery or Chin Surgery, we prefer to perform it using general anesthesia.
We correct skin, fat and muscle flaccidity. In each case, this procedure is performed in a specific area: forehead, cheeks, neck, or in all of them at once changing the location of the scars.
With the arrival of Endoscopic Surgery, the resulting scars are much smaller, the procedure is less aggressive, lowering the edema, hospitalization time and recovery time as well.
Duration: 1 to 3 hours
Anesthesia: Local, combined or general
Recovery: A week after the procedure was performed, stitches can start to be removed and in 8 to 10 days they are totally removed, patients can go back to their normal lives in 12 to 15 days approximately, but always been careful, enjoying a younger and more natural and attractive image.

LASER-FACELIFT or RESURFACING
We call laser-Facelift to a collection of laser treatments based on fast recovery procedures, like the fractionated Erbium and fractionated CO2 have to offer.
These are all painless treatments, because they are performed with topical anesthesia, they are not invasive and recovery takes between 24 to 48 hours. There is no need for hospitalization, since they are totally ambulatory. Can be adapted to perioral and periocular aging procedures .
These laser procedures work perfectly to fasten tissue to the borders of the jaw and neck, using a laser that produces red radiation. This laser is combined with radiofrequency, very popular these days, because is the combination that better works on the dermis and soft tissues to retraction that will eliminate the neck’s flaccidity.
Facial skin aging or photoaging is usually combined with the loss or reduction of the total amount of elastic and collagen fibres. That ´s why laser through it’s multiple ways of been applied is the specific treatments for these alterations.
It is common to see that aging also comes along with marks and pigmentations that give age away, but today both can be reversed with at laser procedure.
Of course, if the case applies, the laser will be selected by the surgeon and he will be the one to decide if the results will be achieved only with a non-invasive procedure or if it should be combined with surgery.

As time goes by, gravity effect affects skin tension; creating flaccidity areas making us look older.
Luckily, there is a non surgical procedure to bring youth back to our skin. It is a facelift performed with non degradable biocompatible polypropylene threads, which have very small spikes. These spikes anchor under the skin to tense it and to give to it a better image with no complications. (Also known as Curl Lift).
This procedure can be performed on eyebrows, middle area of he face (both cheeks and cheek bones) and lower area of the face (jaw).
The threads are set into pace by very small punctures specifically located under the skin after it was treated with local anesthesia. Depending on the amount of threads needed, the procedure may last between an hour and an hour and a half.
Results show immediately. But as time goes by the thread itself causes skin to produce new collagen and a much better look and texture. The effect lasts 2 to 3 years approximately.
Threadlift may lift subcutaneous tissues without needing surgery. It is a quick, bloodless procedure perfect for those patients that need a moderate rejuvenation of skin. It has short duration results.
SLOW DISSOLUTION THREADS
In order to prevent rejection, we use more flexible elastic antibiotic slow dissolution threads.
Sutures are anchored in loops on the troubled area.
The surgeon makes small incisions to fasten the threads subcutaneously with a very long needle that penetrates the skin all the way down to the deepest tissues.
The subcutaneous antibiotic threads hold tissue to the skin.
Antibiotic sutures dissolve slowly, disappearing after a few months once collagen is been produced again and new tissue has grown surrounding the thread. This way we prevent any type of rejection of the sutures.
Other threads also have a slow dissolution. That’s how as time passes, threads are kept from showing, once the effect is gone.
The procedure takes between 20 to 40 minutes and can be performed with local anesthesia. We can apply a soft general anesthesia for the patient’s confort.

MINIFACELIFT
THESE ARE LOW INVASIVE PROCEDURES IN WHICH, WITHOUT NEEDING ANY INCISIONS WE ACHIEVE A YOUNGER IMAGE BY APPLYING DIFFERENT LASERS.
Munifacelift is a fast and natural procedure. It is all about stretching specific skin areas of the face: upper, medium and lower.
Minifacelift can improve certain areas that rejuvenate the face without modifying the natural aspect of it. Between the many positive aspects of eye lid and face lift surgeries we can add the possibility to fraction a very long lasting procedure into several shorter ambulatory ones allowing a faster recovery. The small incision performed on the head (temporal region) during the surgery, will later be totally covered by hair, resulting in a non visible scar procedure.
Usually, this type of procedure is dune under general anesthesia, but depending on the patient, can also be done using local anesthesia. The intervention takes no longer than an hour and a half, and once finished the patient may need to stay at the clinic for no more than a day.
NATURAL FACELIFT
Modern facelift has a natural rejuvenation result because traction of facial tissues is performed vertically. On the contrary, old facelift techniques were done horizontally causing the lost of facial depth.
Subcutaneous muscle tension is also done vertically instead of horizontally. This is how we obtain a natural younger look.
SEDATION
This treatment can be performed under local anesthesia or intravenous sedation.
Contrary to traditional narcosis, in which a tube connected to a respirator is introduced into the throat, patients are able to breathe on their own. While the patients are asleep, they are able to breathe freely feeling absolutely no pain. A few hours after the surgery patients are perfectly well, having avoiding general anaesthesia’s side effects.
RECOVERY

FACIAL IMPLANTS
Plastic surgeons use facial implants to improve facial outline. These implants will help bring a more harmonious balance to the face so this way you will feel more comfortable with your looks.
There are many different types of implants, but the most common ones are chin and cheekbone implants.
Some implants are made in silicone. Now days, there is no scientific evidence that proves that this substance is noxious for human health. Your plastic surgeon will be able to answer all your questions regarding this material.

FAT - GRAFT
One of the most typical techniques in both plastic and aesthetic surgery is the use of grafts that come form different parts of the body, like bone, skin, cartilage and fat. Fat has been used in recovering surgery as filling material for deferent types of defects for more than a hundred years.
Fat grafts have been used for many decades in aesthetic surgery. But only a few years ago fat grafts have become a reliable technique.
Here at the Barrancas Medical Center, we started in 1984 using this technique, and refining it year after year.
Small or big grafts can be placed in almost every part of the body.
It is very useful in lip filling, correcting nasolabial folds (rictus), cheekbone or malar area augmentation and facial remodelling in general.
WHEN IS FATGRAFT INDICATED?
Fatty tissue is widely distributed on the body, is easy to remove, to manipulate and to reattach to its new location. Small or big grafts can be placed in almost every part of the body. Since we are using the patient’s own fatty tissue as our graft, there is no risk of rejection or allergic reaction. Whenever a graft is needed no matter in what part of the body, fat-graft can be used. The first condition for fatty tissue to be used as graft is that there should be a proper amount in the correct conditions to be removed. Skinny patients or with overworked muscle tissue are usually not good candidates. These patients have not only very little amount of subcutaneous fatty tissue, but also their skin strongly attached to the subcutaneous tissue, causing its removal to be very difficult and painful.
A fat-graft can be done also combined to other surgical procedures such as Blepharoplasty, facelift, liposculpture. The best candidates for this type of intervention are those with small or big morphological or aesthetical alterations that seek a better image. This intervention can improve your looks and self-esteem but not necessarily improve your relationships with others or achieve your ideal of beauty.
Fat-graft is very useful in lip filling, correcting nasolabial folds (rictus), cheekbone or malar area augmentation and facial remodelling in general. It can also be used for gluteus or calf enlargement and filling birth or acquired depressions. It’s the perfect complement for liposculpture to get a real remake and improver of your silhouette.
Now days we have started to use fat-graft to perform breasts augmentation in specially selected patients, since this procedure can not be done in any patient.
