PECTORAL IMPLANTS
No matter how hard you work, hoe long you train or what rigorous routine you follow, developing pectoral mass is very hard to accomplish. Even body-builders have difficulties to develop this muscle proportionally to the rest of their body. This is when pectoral implant or prostheses may help.
Thanks to pectoral implant surgery, you don not need to be a body builder to have a nice voluminous chest that looks like the result of wight lifting or hard exercising.
IMPLANTS
Pectoral implants are made of silicon. Unlike breast implants for women, these implants are made of solid silicon and not gel. Even though, they still have a soft firm well developed muscle consistency. Pectoral implants come in different sizes for the patient to choose according to his needs.
FIRST APPOINTMENT
During your first appointment, your plastic surgeon will walk you though the surgery, its possible results and your expectations. You will be physically evaluated. The surgeon will measure your thorax to choose the correct size of implants for you according to your body shape, thorax measures and high. You must discuss all your expectations with your plastic surgeon and let him know about all your health habits.
THE SURGERY
The procedure is performed using general anesthesia. A 4 centimetre incision is done in the armpit area. Through this incision the surgeon will place the implant exactly behind the muscle. The intervention may last between an hour to and hour and a half. A compressive bandage vest will be placed to keep the implants from moving. The patient may go home 3 to 4 hours after the surgery. The bandage will be needed for 15 days, but will not keep the patient from going back to his normal life activities.
RECOVERY
During the first 24 to 48 hours, you may feel tired or sore. This discomfort will diminish easily with pain killers and Anti-Inflamtorys, which will be prescribed after the surgery. Stitches will be removed 10 days after the surgery. Inflammation may last 3 to 5 weeks.
It is hard to determine exactly in how many days the patient will recover completely. Those patients that have jobs that involve no physical activities may go back in 4 or 5 days. Those who have jobs that imply physical activities of some kind will need to wait at least 10 days. Going back to Exercising will take 1 month and should be done gradually to avoid hemorrhages and implant migrations.
YOUR NEW IMAGE
Pectoral implant surgery is very gratifying. Every year more and more men achieve successful results with this new surgical technique. The decision to go through this procedure is entirely yours. The important thing is for you to be sure about the having the surgery done. It’s the only way the procedure will be a complete success.
And improved body image may improve your self esteem and your confident when talking to others.
