Rhinoplasty is the procedure that modifies the shape of the nose and one of the most frequent procedures in plastic surgery. It is actually a combination of several performances on just one organ. Because of the many different shapes and sizes, there is not just one technique.
It is done to improve the aesthetics and the functioning part of the nose, working with the external structures of it by reducing or increasing its size, remodelling it, improving the angle between the nose and the upper lip, closing the nostrils, balancing the shape and the size of the nose o the shape and size of the countenance.
The nasal septum is also remodelling a Septoplasty that works in the adjacent structures correcting their defects.
Most cases require incisions in side the nostrils through with all the structures will be manipulated, having access to all tissues that are going to be manipulated, remodelled and re positioned , giving the nose an new external image and keeping or improving its function.
Duration: thirty minutes to an hour.
Anesthesia: Local, combined or general.
Hospitalization: Ambulatory.
Recovery: Most patients are able to go back to their normal routine in 2 days.
Duration of the Results: Permanent.
SECONDARY RHINOPLASTY
These are surgeries performed to improve the results of former surgeries.
In some cases these procedures are combined with treatments of the nasal septum or nasal cornets.
It is a reconstruction t improve the respiratory function.
